Matthew Watkins has over 20 years of municipal management experience in three different states. Watkins is currently the Township Manager of South Brunswick Township in New Jersey. Previous municipal manager experience includes municipalities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma.
Mr. Watkins has also served in state government positions including the Director of Local Government Services, which oversees all local and county governments in New Jersey. As the chief regulator of municipal government, Mr. Watkins had the unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of city managers and local officials.
Over his 20 years of experience, Matt has worked with many municipal officials especially in the area of labor relations. With well over 50 successfully negotiated labor contracts as a backdrop for his expertise in this area, Matt serves as a Commissioner for the New Jersey Public Employee Relations Commission (PERC). PERC oversees and adjudicates labor disputes for public employees in New Jersey including municipal, school and state employees.
Mr. Watkins holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and numerous certifications in areas of personnel management and municipal finance.
